Jeremiah reported that the student group has held workshops during the last two meetings, which have been well attended. These workshops were about how to create a poster for the HCI Forum and information about eportfolios. He has received input from the students about the HCI faculty candidate that visited last week.
Eric Hodgson visited last week and two other candidates will visit on March 24 and again on April 1. The Search Committee will meet next on April 3 to discuss the three candidates.
Jim Oliver reported that he expects a good attendance at ETC2008. Students are working on posters and demos. Sponsors for Ignite IT are still needed. Brian suggested that David Kingland is contacted. Jeremiah suggested that Pam contact the Usability Professionals Organization.
Doug is working with an undergraduate interdisciplinary degree program with about 300 students enrolled. Discussion was held about how this program could be strengthened and used as a recruiting ground for the HCI graduate program and how the HCI program could be used as a model for this program.
Pam will bring the course descriptions of several courses to the next meeting so that decisions can be made about the courses that should be recommended in each of the four areas.
An additional meeting will be scheduled on Wednesday, March 26 at 9 am in the VRAC Conference Room to discuss the HCI curriculum.
