Project Presentation: What will you build and why?

On Friday, June 20, from 2-3pm, each team will have 7 minutes with 3 minutes for questions (10 min total) to present their project to the rest of the group.

Please use slides of some sort (PPT, Keynote, etc).

In your slides, include at least these slides with the listed information

  • Title slide with project name and team member names
  • Problem You're Addressing - What problem will your project try to solve?
  • User's Experience - What 2-3 interactions or tasks will the user perform / experience? (What will the demo feel like?)
  • System Architecture - Diagram or flowchart overview of your system
    • Somewhere (on this slide or others) specify the Hardware you're using and the Software and any cleverness in your approach
  • Measure of success - How will you know whether you're successfully addressing the problem? Will you be measuring anything? If so, what?
  • Milestones & Estimated Timeline - What are the key pieces of work that you need to accomplish to make this happen? This is basically your "to-do list;" also mention which week of the REU program you plan to accomplish each milestone, e.g. "Gesture library completed: Week 7"; could do a GANTT chart if appropriate
  • Role of your project vis-a-vis faculty member's overall research - How does your work fit into the overall efforts of your faculty member?

An optional slide could show the division of labor, e.g. Fred will do part 1...

Please practice your talk.

Ahem. PLEASE practice your talk.

Really. It's hard to give a good short talk. There's little time to improvise. You've got to know it cold.
