The Red, White, and Blue
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, since Kabala added color to the particle system I will apply that to my fireworks so that I can make "The Red, White, and Blue." I guess I will talk tomorrow about likes and dislikes about the program. Till the next episode.

Just Tweaking
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, all I am doing is "Just Tweaking" my program, so there is not much I can do. It has come to an end now. Till the next episode.

Next, Last, Final, but Never Forgotten
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, it is our Next, Last, Final, but Never Forgotten" week. Hey, um...I am not gonna get all mushy mushy because that is for saps. However, I will say, since I am listening to anime music right now, that i will miss you guys and gals. I will miss John's Antonio Banderes/ Joker face. I will miss Miss Jenna Langer's beautiful eyes. I will miss Thomas' random ....well, random "moments," lol. I will miss Desiree's Resident Evil shirt. I will miss comparing my face to Cole's ugly face;realizing that I may not be all that, but compared to Cole's face I am the "ish." I will miss Brian's abnormal abundant amount of farm knowledge that I care NOT to know. I will miss Allison's pretty brown eyes. I will miss Cody's World of Warcraft addiction. I will miss Paul's liberally free nature who obviously like to have fun. I will miss Jasmine's quiet, motherly, eyore-like nature. I will miss King Nizarr's crispy face when he shaves. I will miss Travis' James Bond or maybe just a Federal agent face every time he puts on those shades. I will miss Matt's Mom.........jokes, lol...yea I will miss the jokes. And last, but not my least favorite...I will miss Samantha Levine stupid...annoying....omg....like...wtf...fts...I rather bite my tongue off than say...infamous..."Pow, Banana Trick." I will miss all these things. I will miss all you....this is our last week everyone...use it wisely. Till the next episode.

My Team is So Freakin Awesome!
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, "My Team is So Freakin Awesome!" I usually do not pay attention to anything behind my monitor screen so I am unaware of what is happening at any moment. This morning I heard Jenna call my name and in her hand was our poster. I got to give it to Jenna Langer for creating such a fine piece. Personally, the poster looks so organic, attractive, aesthetic, and creative. I am really into creativity, which is the reason I did not care about the t-shirts anymore since they told us how much we have to limit that. At first John was really struggling with his skeletal animation and the mesh thing, he still does lol, but he never gave up. Now, he is struggling less, and trying to limit his questions so that he could figure out himself. I commend Jenna and John for their hard work. I may never seem like I appreciate them, but I do....thanks. I know I am kind of hard to deal with, but I am like this with all my friends when I first meet them, but it gets easier after a LONG while. Anyway. Till the next episode.
David, you're...
sniff you're growing up! burst into tears
Creative explosions is a strange phrase... I also liked your poster. The organic design fits your project well.
I'm really happy with our poster too. It goes well with our topic. You're working hard too, and I can't wait to see your immensely creative explosions!

Finally Created a Simulated Explosion
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, I "Finally Created a Simulated Explosion." With the help of the Kabalian, I created a tutorial where the user shoots a missile at an object, and depending on the angle at which the missile was shot, that will either explode or bounces off. Everyday I appreciate and admire the vast knowledge the Kabalian has acquired over the years. I am planning to do research on campus this fall semester, and after learning that the Kabalian had started working in the VRAC during his sophmore year makes conclude that I will take the offer I am presented at my university. Anyway, the tutorials the Kabalian has helped create are cool, but the thing is that the Kabalian gives me the pieces of the puzzle while giving the tasks of putting it together. Why is that kind of a bad thing? Well, I want to create the pieces, but sadly I do not know enough to do so. Basically, I do not have enough programming skill to create the pieces, but I guess I have to take one step at a time. Both my mentor and my mentor's mentor are currently working for the NSA, and they tell me I will definitely learn the hard way to program. So I am excited. I hope I can work with them next summer. Till the next episode.

Fireworks
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, I created a "Fireworks" tutorial. So what happens is that I fire in a certain direction and firewoks pop out. Here is the pic. Till the next episode.
Where is the picture?
EvaTao - 23 Jul 2008 - 21:54
Do not forget to blog and post your final design!!

Um.....
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, "Um....." I have no idea what to talk about. Plus I forgot to blog on friday.....so adios!!! But i did find something funny. Till the next episode.

Usually
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, usually I have something to say, but thats "Usually." I am still working on my explosion and it is looking more like an explosion everyday. That is about it. Till the next episode.

Trying to Make it Interested
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, the Kabalian is "Trying to Make it Interested." Can you believe that the Kabalian wants me to create a fireball and a flame?! I thought the Kabalian was crazy, but I do like a challenge; so I did not mind. I looked online for some help to create fire, so I used that to create a ball fire by attaching a texture to a sphere in Maya. I learned some new tricks in Photoshop because of this so it was beneficial in the end. It is not really impressive but here is the picture. Till the next episode.
That's quite a texture.

In The Beginning, There was Smoke
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, man did not create fire first... "In The Beginning, There was Smoke." My topic, at first, may not make sense, but before fire appears usually you see smoke. Ok, it may be half right and half wrong who cares. Anyway, I created smoke using particles systems and it looks freaking awesome. It still need some tweaking because the bottom looks like mini puff balls, which you will not be able to see in this picture, but the top looks like actual smoke. I hope you like it. Till the next episode.
- smoke.JPG:
Huge picture. Looks good though. I commend you, Mrego.
it looks really really cool. bravo mr. ego bravo.

One Step at a Time
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, I am taking this missile explosion tutorial "One Step at a Time." O.K, I am finished with implementing the code to get the missile in the program, smoke to appear, and shrapnel to seem like exploding. Now I will get really specific with the calculations to make it look as possible, and then I may get some fire in there if I want to simulate fire phenomena. By the way, I created the shrapnel in Maya, and it looks good especially when I place like 500 of them in Visual studio in a spherical form the let it explode outwards which looks freaking cool. Till the next episode.

OMG, its a Freakin' RPG!!!
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, its a bird. No. Its a plane. No, its uh...."OMG, its a Freakin' RPG!!!" I created an RPG weapon. It is not as detailed as I would usually want it to be, but my main focus is to create a realistic missile explosion, and everything that relates to it using particle system. I had material in it, but something happen and I did not feel like fixing it. Till the next episode.
It looks really good.
So is that actually going to be used in your explosion? We're going to have a sweet project!

Freakin RPG!!!
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, I creating a "Freakin RPG!!!" Alright, last time you saw my awesome sword, now I am creating a RPG for my Particle Systems. Don't expect much from it because my goal is focused on particle systems, so I will not spend much time on the rpg. My goal is to create smoke , movements, and explosion effects just like an actual rpg. Isn't the freakin awesome....um YEAH. I can not wait to finish. My take a while though, but I'm ready. Till the next episode.
David, I know you were interested in canoeing. Recreation services is hosting several trips. http://www.recservices.iastate.edu/outdoors/trips.php#139 You will have to pay for them, of course, but it is a lot of fun and they handle everything. Registration ends in a few days.
I thought you meant role playing games until I thought about it.

Exhausted
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, I was completely "Exhausted" yesterday. I was so exhausted that near the end of the day, I think I feel asleep on the Kabalian. I definitely know I fell asleep, but my team mates said I feel asleep on the Kabalian. Sorry, if i did. Jenna says, usually people try to fight the urge to sleep, but she said that it looked like I just didn't care and I was out like there was no tomorrow. lol. Anyway, I always forget to check my emails, and because of that I have to re-do my t-shirt in Illustrator, since I started in Photoshop. Oh, well, at least I have something to do. Um...I think that is about it...oh yeah...."that was she said" ----refer to topic---- lol. Till the next episode.
July 7th 2008
John Deere
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, I visited the "extravagant" "John Deer." Well, the only thing I found interesting was that the factory used to manufacture ammunition during World War. About everything else was pretty much uninteresting....i like the food kinda...maybe...well it was ok. BTW. Matt is ugly. Sorry for the randomness, but he just walked into the room, and I realized how much of a bonker he looks like. Anyway, yeah I would have preferred a tour of a high-tech-amazingly-awesome-like-wtf-like-fts-thats f'n cool technology facility. But it was nice to take a 4 day break from working. Till the next episode.
Unfortunately for David, the FBI, CIA, NSA, and SIS all have him under surveillance already.
Well, you know, Team Gandalf is just a short walk across the room.
well you live in MD and go to school in VA. go "visit" NSA, Northrop Grumman, FBI, CIA or any of the other "high-tech-amazingly-awesome" companies. their work is classified of course but I'm sure that's not problem for someone of "Mr. EGO's" skill and talent.

Research Twist
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, the Kabalian is trying to make my job a little more interesting using a "Research Twist." Thus far, I have been creating tutorials for the different affectors that can be applied to the particle system (i.e. fading, accelaration, and currently gravity). But now, for the gravity affector, I have to do some research to figure out how each particle could affect the other particle using physics. So basically, if you remember your physics, all matter has a gravity pull. So I needed the equation to calculate the gravity between two objects. I found it quickly because I knew what I was looking for. I think the Kabalian wanted the current task to be a little harder than the past tasks, and I thank him for that. It made today a bit more interesting. I do not want get my hopes up for tomorrow or the future because this may be a once a week thing, but I would not mind if the Kabalian threw a twist every once in a while. Till the next episode.
Wow Mr.Lego, the Banderian's are in the move! HAhaha, Anyway, i finally manage to implement the library bro and you know what, I need to do a stick dude just like the one that smashed "MYTOY", lol.
Cool, I'm glad you're getting challenged. Meta!Blast is going to rock when we're done with it!

I Love Anime!!!
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, "I Love Anime!!!" I started watching Anime without realizing it when I was in elementary school, and I think everyone knows DragonBall Z. Yes, it was the spark that gave me enough reason to continue watching animation of high quality and detail, unlike most American cartoons. It was the one thing, as a kid, kept constantly entertained, even the soundtracks that came along with it. It is very difficult to catch my attention because of my very SHORT attention span, and I think some of the interns know that such as the beautiful Jenna Langer. In high school, some of the "cool" kids wondered why I watched anime, that it was for losers. My response was I could care less what others thought about me, and I will never let anyone run my life, REGARDLESS of the consequences. However, for the sake of everyone else, here is my answer. I used to watch a lot of cartoons with my dad when I was a kid, and I loved playing and fooling around with what computers could do. So cartoons + computers = Anime. I have been in love with it since. Anime's demographics appeals to a broad range of people, from kids to adults. I love everything about Anime from the detailed art to the emotional soundtrack. Currently, as I am writing this blog, I am listening to song called ... "M-6 Remixed" by Ishikawa Tomohisa from an anime called "Innocent Venus." This anime series is really short, it is about 13 episode, but it was worth it because, personally, the content was amazing. I listen to this type of music when I am sleeping, working, lonely, or generally want music to relax my mind, body, and soul. This is why I love Anime. This is why I it keeps me constantly focused. But this is why it makes me think, think so much that I feel I am missing something so small, yet so significant from my life. I know what it is, but obviously not ready for it. I do not know why I wrote this blog.................I'm listening anime music, and it does make me think.......Till the next episode.
What if your life was a anime series? What would happen next?

Decisions
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, I have made some "Decisions!" First and foremost, I will take some advice and open a bank account. I was hesitant at first because I knew if I opened a bank account I would spend the money I have earned; additionally I was to lazy to do so lol. Second, I "second" J.J. idea of capture the flag one night. Third, if I do decide to use some of my money, I will definitely pay myself back, lol. Fourth and last, Cole Anagnost is definitely ugly. Yep, I think that about covers much of what I have been think today. Till the next episode.
How does having a bank account want to make you spend more money?
It's nice to know that your comrades are on your mind.
Nice, and I found you a puzzle pass-time more suited to your intellectual capacity, considering how much you suck at Portal and everything.

Interesting
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, I need a new stimulus....I need something "Interesting." I kinda miss my friends back in Maryland and Virginia, where I go to school, because there was always something to do especially we had a car. I need something to do after coming back from work while I am at the dorms. The friends I have made here are good stimulus as well because I have a lot of fun with them, but it seems that I have a lot of time to do nothing and play Call of Duty and Halo; which is fun just by itself. I guess I see the effects of always studying at my university in VA, so I might listen to my mentors' mentor from VA, who is in the NSA currently, and start learning a new language. I don't know, I will see what I can do, but what is especially hard is the inconvenience of Ames not having a bank of america = not able to deposit a check my mom sent me = limited funds from only my father = broke as hell. Hey, I guess you don't always get what you want in life right? Till the next episode.
EvaTao - 07 Jul 2008 - 18:10
Let know if you need help to open an account in Ames.
You could always get a job. Or Frisbee too.
i vote for capture the flag one night.
i miss MD/DC too. 4th of july just won't be the same w/o the Monument and the Capitol over the water...
Yeah, it can kind of be a drag around here without money. We should put together an ultimate frisbee game sometime soon. That would make our evenings a lot more interesting when homework isn't needed, and it's free.
Here's a bit of advice: enjoy every moment! Uh, read random news about the world. They're funny, or go watch that Band of Brothers thing.
Have you considered opening an account at another bank that is in Ames? You can easily deposit your checks while you are here, and just close the account when you leave town.

Tutorials
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, I have created, with the help of the brilliant Kabalian, "Tutorials" so that any other person who wants to learn how the code works would know what it does. I try not to ask the Kabalian many questions so that I could figure it out some of the things by myself. Apparently, it is working, and I am definitely happy about that. I kind of feel a sense of accomplishment because when I first started with the main project, I was completely ignorant, but now I don't have to ask him many questions. What I did was try to understand every step I made when the Kabalian was helping me, so when the Kabalian ask to implement something new I just try to connect the dots as best as I can. I hope every one else is doing ok on their projects as well. Till the next episode.

I Commend You
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, to the HCI Interns at the VRAC "I Commend You." I talked to some of my friends for the past couple of days, and those same people would love to be in "our shoes," so to speak. I commend you for coming this far and trying your best to get ahead in life. My motto is "Work hard with youth, and relax with age." This may seem random, but I have noticed that some of the interns here, actually all of the interns here were selected for a reason, and that reason is that they want to succeed. Keep up the good work. Till the next episode.
relax with age? i've always heard that you can sleep when you're dead. i don't know about your slacker attitude david

I Do Know
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, "I Do Know" what I want to talk about, but just for the sake of the last post I will talk about "blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah" again. Oops I forgot, that is a waist of a blog. Ok, I could say that John looks like a Antonia Banderas look alike in the morning, but when the gel wears off he looks like the joker minus the make up. Or maybe I could say that Allison's name sounds to close like "Alice in," and she has no choice but to marry any man or woman with a last name of "Wonderland." Or maybe I could say that Sam needs to give up on "POW!! BANANA TRICK," because it's not funny. Or maybe I could say that Jasmine reminds me of Eyore, from winnie the pooh, in slow motion. Or maybe I could say that the beautiful Miss Jenna Langer is the human form of Bowser and those lady mistress that drive you to work to your dead and gone. But I actually want to say that HOORAY, I think I am actually started to get this particle systems. Till the next episode.
-Summer Glau
Hahaha, you are a funny person. Let me give you some pictures about me with gel and without it: Not all Jokes are fun JAjajajajajaja (in a psycho tone).
* Do I look like Antonio Banderas in here?:
* What about now that I dont have Gel and Im smiling?:
The chance that the Banana Trick may annoy you (or anyone) is reason enough to continue it. I hope that doesn't remind you of The Game.

I Don't Know
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, "I Don't Know" what to talk about in today's blog. I could say "blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah" over and over again, but that is a waist of a blog. I could talk about how Cole has to be from a another planet because no one on earth could be that ugly. Or maybe I could say the Nizar looks so crisp when he shaves, as well as Cody. Or maybe I could say that Matt looks like Superman if he dye's his hair black and gets a hair curl. Or maybe I could say that Travis likes playing flash games too much. Or maybe I could say that Brian keeps his head at a certain angle 80% of the time while nodding to anything you say. Or maybe I could say that Paul is so liberally liberally free that you can consider him an artistically new breed.....&( ....confusing huh?. Or maybe I could say that Thomas ....well....enough said. Or maybe I could say that the ladies are....well, I think I will leave the ladies alone for now, just for now. Till the next episode.

Pester
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, I really hope that I am not a "Pester." Since we are beginning to work on our main project, I am bombarding Kabala with a hoard of questions when he assigns me a task to implement in the computer program. The disadvantage of not being present from the beginning of the creation of the computer program is that you were not there since the beginning. I sometimes feel that I am a nuisance to Kabala, and that is no where his fault, but just that I hate the idea of me not having an even average understanding of how to implement the tasks that are given to me. This internship has been great thus far from learning the C++, Maya, and OpenGL classes to the activities we attend. However, the only thing I do not like is how much ignorance I have of the program. It is to be expected because I was definitely still in high school five years ago when the Biology team first started their implementation of the code. I just hope that as the weeks go by, I definitely have the ability to complete the tasks assigned without having the Kabalian for help every single step of the way. Till the next episode.
dude I feel sometimes like I'm a Latino version of you lol. Just kidding, but is true I feel the same way toward the OpenSG animation library and what make it worst is that everyday are more pointers and definition that I didn't knew about. By the way, let me tell you something funny, I asked kabala: how much time took you to understand OpenSG (OSG)?, you want to know the answer, then here it is:
" It took me a couple of years"
So that means that we need to put extra effort on shewing all the material and practice that Kabala give us. Someone one said:
"We are made wise not by the recollection of our past, but by the responsibility for our future".
George Bernard Shaw
Don't worry, asking all these questions now is going to help you understand things when it gets more complicated. You'll be fine!

Bored to Death
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, I was seriously "Bored to Death" by the Library tour. I am the type of person who needs to be constantly entertained or working; the library tour did none of that. I seriously stopped listening after five minutes because the tour event was uneventful, so to speak. I feel obligated to warn future interns to find a good game online before the tour so that you have something to play online while taking the library tour because they might get bored out of their mine. That was seriously the highlight of the day for me, at least. We had research presentation today, but nothing can beat how bad the tour was. Till the next episode.
June 19th 2008
Baseball Games
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, I remember why I do not enjoy watching "Baseball Games." Dang, we are leaving to tour the library. I guess thats all I have to say for yesterday. Toodles. Ok, I'm back. That was the most boring thing ever, I will definitely talk about it in the next blog. Anyway, back to the game. I was saying I remembered why I do not like watching baseball games because there is not enough action to keep me interested, but it was fun hanging out with the HCI intern crew. Although, I did enjoy watching the three kids in burger suit racing each other. Till the next episode.
Exploitation of children by putting them in burger suits and making them race needs to stop.
June 18th 2008
The Atom
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, we are minutes away from completing the glorious, the everlasting...."The Atom."
BWAHAHAHAHAHHAH BWAHAHAHAHAHA,AND BWAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHAHAHHAHAHA. LOL. Anyway, the project has almost come to an end. There was some stuff that we wanted to do, but the problem is the way had written the code, and any efforts to complete that task would lead us to a total revamp of the project; basically it is not worth since this is not the main project. Speaking of main project, the Kabalian showed me this really cool example of what the particle system could do. He did this simulation of about 2500 particles forming on the surface of an imaginary sphere exploding outward. Totally awesome. I was thinking about switching to animation with John---note: Jenna, John, and I are working on different projects since everyone has a different interest--- because I did not like the idea that the entire group is split. Well, that was before, I could care less now...joking. Anyway, we will see how this particle system will work out for me. Till the next episode.
It does kind of suck that you won't be working with the same stuff. Unfortunately it might be like that with our team too, though we will be working with the same tools.
Good job on the OpenGL project. It looked great.
June 17th 2008
A Little Bit
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, I am starting to get an understanding of what the Kabalian is saying, but just "A Little Bit."
The Kabalian came over to our pod today, and out the all the days I have spoke with I believe today was the most useful. I am an observer, and I can tell when the Kabalian gets excited. So when he gets excited about something I think he is tuned to my "frequency," or better yet he can speak a little English. So I am in the process of starting the assignment he gave, and hopefully I will not crash the system. Toodles, lol. Till the next episode.
June 16th 2008
Kabala
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, I am in league with a foreign creature that might be trying to communicate with me and his name is Kabala. Kabala, David Kabala, is my grad student mentor who earlier today was trying to explain what I will be doing with the Particle System, but he was speaking a whole other language. Does he understand that his program is massive, literally, and understand what I can or can not do is about the same with how men can not differentiate when their girlfriends are mad at them for an insane reason that is so illogical and absurd. Joking ladies ;). ......or maybe not :)7 Hopefully the code he gave can aid me in the quest to understand the Kabala, the last of Kabalian race. Till the next episode.
I understand how overwhelming and occasionally frustrating coming into an existing project can be; I have been there before. Taking notes during discussions and asking lots of questions really helps. Don't be afraid to appear unknowledgeable. We would rather you ask questions and get your feet under you as soon as possible rather than keep quiet and flounder.

I like your creations. Do not forget to blog for today 6/16.

The Incredible HULK!!!
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, I witnessed the rising of a human to the strongest creature on earth; "The Incredible HULK!!!" Oh right!!! The HULK is a vicious monster, note: {vicious: 'slang'; the act of being a high stimulus to the mind or one of the five senses}{monster: 'slang'; a merciless creature with unfathomable power), and he so freaking cool. I highly recommend everyone to watch the movie. A lot of people did not like The HULK, the first movie, but personally I liked it. Those people who did not favor the first movie, I dare you to watch the remake. I double dare, no, I freakin FREAKIN triple dare you. The Incredible HULK blew my mind so such an extent that I give it a 9 out of 10 rating. Till the next episode.

Here is my CREATION!!!
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, "Here is my CREATION!!!" Enough said. Nothing is more beautiful than witnessing your hard work manifested in reality, virtual reality. I can not wait to see this in the C4. The C4 can is a downgrade to the C6, but still an upgrade or at least up to par with any other media entertainment projection screen. So I get to see it in stereo--3d-- and I am so excited. Oh yeah, I think I finally know what I am doing for our main project. I will be working on particle systems for the Meta!Blast. Basically working with how objects are drawn and effected by the environment. For example, I could create how a bubble filled with water explodes and all its child raindrops fly in every direction, but then how would physics affect it? That is what I am kinda doing. Anyway, enough of that, I can not wait until next wednesday so I can see my beautiful sword in 3d. Till the next episode.

SWORD
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, I finished creating a awesome "SWORD." Unfortunately, I forgot to take pic shot of the 3d model, but tomorrow I will post it. I learned some OpenGL functions today in C++. Kinda cool, but I prefer MAYA way better. Apparently, I am using OpenGL with my main project, so I guess I got to learn it. Til the next episode.
It's beautiful!! I like it. Where is your comments box? Eva

Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, I have a new lady in my life and her name is "MAYA." MAYA is so beautiful and visually stunning and makes my hart warm and and she is my QUEEN!!! I was working with her t'day and and she let render a couple of scenes. For example, I rendered this spike ball which looks really cool because I made it glow in the dark. YAAAYYYYYY! I'm so happy, and and another thing that MAYA did for me is help me create this sword that I haven't finished and and ....ummm.....oh!, and and it looks really cool! YAAAAY!!!! LOL. Till the next episode.

RELENTLESS!!!
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, Jenna is "RELENTLESS!!!." She is working our butts off, finding everything wrong with the program, or finding ways we can improve it. Again, I do not have a problem with it, but I definitely know that our program better be... IT WILL BE PERFECT!!!
There is no room for error, actually there is room for error, it is just up to you or rather Morales and I to find those errors before Langer does, or she will point out for us. LOL. Till the next episode.
yes, i am relentless, but you wouldn't want me any other way

Your program was sliick! Yatzeeee!
haha you two are funny. but it looks like the Langer Wrangler whipped your project into shape before Eric got to it. Good job, I look forward to trying to crash your program this coming week ;P
Hey I was looking for Jenna definition on the dictionary and I found this:
Jenna [dʒennə]
1. Evil Debugger
2. pretty, but painful
3. -->> Im joking LOL
Hey, she really knows how to satisfy the user, because she made us change a lot of things.

We are about Done
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, "We are about Done." We have completed about 90% of the Yahtzee project, and we are now looking for logic errors and errors of that sort. But of course, the beautiful Ms. Jenna Langer wants to "review" and "add" to the project which is the equivalence of moi performing more work; its ok. She is just trying to improve our program so that it can come close as possible to the actual game. We need someone like her in the group. Our is actually well balanced. She pushes on for usability, I implement the code, and Morales fixes up the visual. We should be ok fr our main project. Till the next episode.

Scoring is frustrating
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, "Scoring is frustrating." Again, I am talking about scoring, but this time I came, I saw, I CONQUERED!!!! I think I am about done with the scoring part. I feel a sense of accomplishment because there are times where I could use code from an online Yahtzee c++ code, but I wanted to figure it out by myself, and I did. Now we have to debug, and add graphics. If possible we will add a "dice roll" song, so that when a dice rolls then you will "hear" it roll. Cool? I think so, but it might be complicated for me since I have no idea how to do it. It is about learning right? Till the next episode.

"Oh So Intricate
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states, our Yahtzee computer program is "Oh So Intricate". I want everyone to know and comprehend how complicated just keeping score is for Yahtzee since it is just like poker. I am not even done with it. I was going to work on it, but my friend from Maryland, who received an internship at University of Pennsylvania, felt the need to call me because she wanted some insight on how "boring" my first week was. I told my friend that my first week was not boring at all because the program introduced us to what we will do, and that is the same she is going through as well. So, obviously Iowa State HCI program is well structured, as well as my friend's internship. Anyway, today I did my homework early morning so i could work on my Yahtzee program for the rest of the day. It closely went according to plan until my friend called, but I accomplished a good amount today so relaxing is probably a good idea. With team mates as enthusiastic as me, John Morales and Jenna Langer, we are getting a lot done in a short amount of time. Tomorrow is Thursday, so we have 4 days to do it. That leaves us with a good range of things we can accomplish that time. Again, I am just having fun doing the program and that is what learning is about. Til the next episode.
EvaTao - 06 Jun 2008 - 02:41
Good to hear that
Good luck with your Yahtzee program! It sounds pretty tough, but I'm sure you guys can figure it out.
Yeah, we thought about chess at least as a first application. We might be able to track pieces on the board and show where they can legally move, animate the "battles" between pieces, stuff like that.
Psh, Yahtzee isn't that hard... not that I've ever actually played though... it's just rolling dice after all. We have the weekend too, and doesn't everyone want to spend their weekend coding? It just sounds like such a good time!

Working hard
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states we are "Working Hard". I have been working on my Yahtzee program, and I think I made it little more complicated than necessary as Andrew pointed, thanks. It is still kind of hard, but with time, care, and constant thinking of possible algorithms I think our group can pull this off. I am doing most of the hard coding-complicated part. John is coding the graphical stuff, and possibly the sound. The lovely beautiful Jenna Langer is our leader who is keeping this group together by writing our psuedocode that exudes perfection --THANK YOU-- she also reminds me the things I need to do, like a secretary, because I am usually thinking of programming instead of the other assignments the HCI program gives us. Honestly, if she did not remind me to do this blog, I would have done it tomorrow morning before work. Lifesaver. Anyway, I think its time for me to work on the program. Til the next episode.
Wow, I feel really special right now. YOU should feel special too, because you are making our Yahtzee program amazing! You're hard work is definitely going to pay off.

Hey David, could you vote the movies you like when you get a chance?
Glad you're doing well Mr. Ego. I hope you realize that I will be addressing you as this name from now on. It's so fitting. I know what you mean about the work though. So much coding to be done so little time. I wish we could reprogram the world clock to read 30 hours in a day.

Finally Getting Started
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ego's back. As the topic of the day states we are "Finally Getting Started". Today, most of the HCI interns who did not have prior knowledge of C++ had to learn a little basic rundown of how it works. Since I had 2 years of experience, which may not be much compared with other schools, I did not have to attend. So I productively looked over the class syllabus and reviewed for the next day, and I also completed 1 and a half of the 3 homeworks that will be due 2 days from now; smart right?! Anyway, we attended for the first time the HCI course. The PH.D student lectured about the roots of HCI and computers. Personally, I was interested in how modern computers that I have grown to love and adore came to be, but that is just me. For several other, and they know who they are, it was a boring lecture as I could probably tell by the battle their were facing during the lecture; the battle to stay awake!!! I am not going to point anyone out, but uh next time I will not inconspicuously kick your leg. LOL. My team wrote the basic pseudocode of what we are definitely coding for our Yahtzee dice program. Hopefully everyone thinks it is cool. You get a prize if everyone votes for your group to win the prize, but I do not care. The prize I am getting is the experience that the HCI Internship at Iowa State's VRAC program is giving me. Til the next episode.

Hey David, could you vote the activities you will attend and the movies you like when you get a chance?

Last Day before the real work begins
Its about 10:30 am, and Jenna and I are looking for an article preferably dealing with human-to-computer interaction. We are currently doing this so that the HCI interns can discuss this next Wednesday for an open discussion. We will be discussing this in Journal Club. Journal club is a place where everyone can host their opinions without prosecution which is always a good idea because good debates are the arguments just an inch away from an all out brawl.
EvaTao - 02 Jun 2008 - 02:17
Hey David, could you put the latest blog on the top? That way will be easier for us to view your blog.
You better find a good article about HCI or we will be very angry with you. Also, how does your project look? Fun?
EvaTao - 30 May 2008 - 00:04
Ok, David. As the blog author, you will use edit to add in your blog instead of type in the comment box...And please put your content all together on the top of comment box... So your blog will be easier for your peers to read. Do you agree?

Topic: Excitement
Maybe it is just me, but I am way too excited to start working. I am so excited that everything else seems be pointless, but it's not. Everyone seems cool: the staff, the campus, THE TECHNOLOGY!!, even the interns. I think I got everyone's name down: Jenna, John, Cole, Thomas, Desiree, Brian, Cody, Allison, Paul, Jasmine, Nizarr, Matt, Sam, and Travis. .....yea that's 15. Can't wait to work, I just love to learn and sometimes that gets me way too hype that I can not sleep well.
Ok, the other interns and I just finished review all 5 research project. Each project has large amounts of pros and, if any, minute amount of cons. I am eager to see what my team will create 10 weeks from now. I will be on the Biology in the VR creating a biology game consisting the "last man standing on earth" pitch. Instead the man is a plant with only one cell still functioning. The point of the game is to keep it alive so that it could bring life to the rest of it being and the world.
Another project is the multi-touch project where you have a table where senses your every touch accurately. With more than one user the accuracy decreases, however, not significantly. If anyone who watched Minority Report, it is just like the beginning of the movie when Tom Cruise used his hand to touch or expand the virtual images in front of him. Its cool, right?
Now, more in depth with Minority Report is the magic table project. It actually works with augmented reality, SO YOU CAN ACTUALLY DO WHAT TOM CRUISE DID IN THE MOVIE!!! Totally awesome, right? Ok, by the way, my mind is having techy spasms because it is reaching its limit on how much cool technology I can absorb in two days........breath. I that is enough for the magic table.
There is the iphone project where you can do all sorts of thing by synchronizing the phone with the C6 or a laptop and create various and fun applications. For example, the mentors that iphone team is working with created a star creating game where you can create stars in the skies or even constellations. If you do not like what you created, you can send a black hole towards the stars, envelope it, then TOTAL ANNIHILATION!!!!!! My mind is overloaded with "joy"--as Jenna helped me put it--.
Another is a robot, i think that's enough said.
David signing out on the second day.
