Summer Program for Interdisciplinary Research and Education - Emerging Interface Technologies (SPIRE-EIT)




Eligibility
To be eligible, you must meet the following criteria:
  • Citizen or Permanent Resident of the United States
  • Be working towards an undergraduate degree in one of the HCI disciplines or a related discipline
  • Have a grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a 4 point scale)
  • Not be otherwise employed while affiliated with the program
Program Requirements
Students will be expected to:
  • Live on ISU campus during the program
  • Participate for a minimum of 40 hours per week in curricular activities
  • Participate in various extracurricular activities
  • Meet with the mentor twice a week
  • Keep a daily journal (a blog)
  • Give an oral mid-summer presentation
  • Write a final paper
  • Participate in a research symposium
  • Summarize your summer experience in a final essay
Selection Criteria
Applications will be evaluated based on a number of criteria including:
  • GPA
  • Relevant class work
  • Previous research experience
  • Information technology skills
  • Research interests
  • Professional objectives
  • Discipline of study
  • Letters of reference
  • Potential for the program to benefit the student
